Developing new and improved detection methods for significant emerging infectious disease threats.

[ Click to view Associated Projects ]

Australia needs to respond rapidly and effectively to increased biosecurity threats due to exponential growth in international trade and travel, coupled with recent outbreaks of highly pathogenic infectious diseases around the world.

The AB-CRC is developing on-site devices and laboratory-based platform technologies to assist in pre-border surveillance. These innovative devices will allow us to detect pathogens faster and with improved sensitivity and specificity, and respond to immediate threats in the absence of sophisticated laboratory tests.
